Annual Dancing with the Gillette Stars raises a record $150,000

Year after year, Jessica Seders is blown away not only with the support the local community shows the YES House at its Dancing with the Gillette Stars event, but how hard the dancers work to perfect their moves.

The organization’s largest fundraising event brought in the most money it ever has last weekend. Seders said that through ticket sales, silent and live auctions and other private donations, Dancing with the Stars raised nearly $150,000 for the YES House Foundation.

“We’re all really, really happy and are always amazed by the community and their support,” Seders said. “We fill up every year and I really think it’s become the premier fundraising event that everyone looks forward to.”

The couples that danced were Nathan and Robbie McLeland with M&K Oil Co., Shaun and Alison Gee with Cloud Peak Energy and Curtis and Tracie Juby, who were sponsored by anonymous donors.

Each couple won a category in the contest. The McLelands won in the All Mighty Dollars category where attendees put money on the winner, the Gees won the People’s Choice Award with ballot votes from each attendee and the Jubys won Judge’s Choice.

This year’s event had a Fabulous 50s theme and was a tribute to the American Band Stand. Seders said that they also hired an Elvis impersonator who won a competition in Las Vegas who was the hit of the night.
